Zane, We get big rafts of them every year along the south shore. Sometime they show up very late in the season if the winter is mild.

Here is some video of BB on the Great South Bay from a few weeks ago. I'm not sure how well you will be able to see them . They were making their way along the coastline.

Nice photos Steve. I was on a sea trial last week running from Great River out towards New Inlet and saw the sky turn black with thousands of BB when I was off Bayport.

Steve, The tubes are filled with air and have multiple chambers so if one was to get damaged the others will still hold air. The photos did not show the seats or saddles are they are called. They are comfortable but are still at the upholstery shop and will be installed shortly.

If you have the room, look into a used Shopsmith. It is a great machine and made in the USA. The basic machine is a drill press, horizontal boring machine, table saw, lathe and disc sander.
