Makes you wonder if the shooter slammed the forward assist realllly hard one last time???

The importance of using the correct ammunition

Given liability issues, I am surprised any store would accept ammo returns.

    Turkey Season

I had a couple acquaintances who did not mess with the thighs and legs. That changed after I gave them a serving of turkey legs and thighs simmered in cream of mushroom soup a long time in the slow cooker. Of course that ended my supply of turkey so not sure what I accomplished.

    Turkey Season

As far as I know, we have no poisonous snakes in the US. 😁 In my 30+ years as a biologist, I’ve never seen a venomous snake act aggressive unless provoked or stepped on. And I did both and still did not get bit or even struck. 😳 Same with non venomous ones too.

KS Gov Vetos Proposed Non-resident Waterfowler Restrictions

I will play devils advocate, of sorts: Takes two to tango. Private landowners & farmers see $$ signs, take the money, and give the clubs and/or guides the leases that lock up the land. Given the slim profit margins on farming, kind of hard to blame them. And they do own the land. And in some...

KS Gov Vetos Proposed Non-resident Waterfowler Restrictions

Upper Delta is pretty much a wood duck only things any more. I’ve not heard of anyone e Getting into mallards in years. The lower Delta and Bay still have plenty of food (eel grass and milfoil). But the birds just don’t show up in numbers anymore.

KS Gov Vetos Proposed Non-resident Waterfowler Restrictions

"Golden Days" in Mobile, AL area was from 94-2003. Though hunter numbers went way up between 97-2000, there was plenty of birds and water to spread out the pressure. The number of gadwalls, ringnecks, greater and lesser scaup, and teal was simply amazing. Then the hurricanes of 2004-05 and...

I Am Content With My Fleet, But I Wish I Had Bought....

I still regret not building a Broadbill or Bluebill back in 2002 like I planned.

    3 Pintails

I wonder if this lower (vs. historic) level of pintail (and lesser scaup) population is in reality the new benchmark? Has habitat impacts & agricultural practices resulted in a change in carrying capacity to a point where this is the new normal? And did the coinciding crash in the fur market...

Of interest - Contaminants common in northeast waterfowl

One aspect of the above referenced study I did like was that they focused on the parts of the waterfowl hunters actually eat, the breast meat, though they did include the skin (and attached subcutaneous fat) in the homogenized sample. I agree with Tod, I don't see a physiological or structural...

Of interest - Contaminants common in northeast waterfowl

Eye-opening results: 100% of waterfowl breast muscle samples had detectible PCB, organochlorine pesticide (OCP), and PFAS congeners. Mercury was found in almost all the duck samples but in almost none of the geese.

    There any golfers here?

As far as forum death threads, this one is pretty calm compared to a few others over the years.

    There any golfers here?

My old man loved the game and was a pretty good golfer. And a great hunter and fisherman. I only inherited the latter. Can’t swing a club to save my life. Or hit a baseball either. But I love watching the pros golf. Nothing like seeing a great golf shot. The eye hand coordination and muscle...
