    Question For Retired Hunters

Jode~ Fine thoughts well-illustrated! Thank you! As my hunts now can be just a stroll over to one of my ponds, a few hours ago I got comfortable in a blind well before shooting time. Nothing joined me by sunrise. So - on the return voyage - a 100-yard row back to the dike - I contented...

    Question For Retired Hunters

Good morning, All~ I am enjoying all that I am reading on this thread - but do not yet fit the category. I have just begun my 60th season pursuing this Grand Passion that we all share. I do something with the sport just about every day of the year - boats, decoys, artwork, stories, history...

This Season's Project.. 1928 Benjamin Hallock Gunning Scooter

Good morning, Anthony~ Neat idea of running the oar holder down through the deck - so you still get the benefit of securing it to the transom. Clever Fellows down there along Great South Bay! All the best, SJS

This Season's Project.. 1928 Benjamin Hallock Gunning Scooter

Anthony~ I see you are also working on a stool rack. Here's the one on the TED SANFORD. I am fairly certainly - though never thought to ask him directly - that it is his design. It is 6-pieces that hinge together. It sits on the deck and held in place with just 4 chocks - one in each...

    cuckoo bird spotted in NY

Greg~ Friends on Long Island have seen it. As my daughter lives in Germany, I have heard them several times back in their native land. I have yet to see one up close - but their song is remarkably like the clocks! All the best, SJS

Marsh Stake for Staking out Boat during Tide Change

Greg~ Me, too. I carry a 10-pound Navy with about 40 feet of line. The anchor and line are lashed in place - so ready when needed. But, I will go whole seasons without using it. My single staub (marsh stake) keeps the boat where I want it whilst gunning. All the best, SJS
