I recently picked up this English leather & oak case on eBay. It's a vintage Bonehill case made around 1915. Too bad the Bonehill SxS did not come with the case.

Case was in pretty good shape for it's age, but I bought some red felt and plan to re-line it. The handle is in remarkable condition, usually they are the first thing to go bad on these old cases.

My vintage 1915 Spencer 12 bore SxS with 28" barrels and splinter forend just happens to fit perfectly in this old case. So, now it's found a new I will have to order a couple of leather secruity straps for the case that are missing.

This nice 1895 vintage "Mills" 12 ga. bird hunters belt goes well with this case & SxS. Those 4 brass hooks on the bottom of the belt are made to hang your upland game birds on. Small birds like dove, quail and snipe were hunf by their necks and the bigger birds like pheasant and grouse were hung by their feet. The belt has 30 cartricge loops on it and it is in mint condition. The belt belonged to Judy's father and I think he got it from his father who was in the Spanish American War where he wore the Mills Military cartridge belt that held the .30-40 Krag ammo which he carried in 1898.

Judy's dad was first stationed in of all places........Yellowstone National Park for two years back in the 1890's. He was stationed there to capture and arrest poachers (Meat Hunters) who were devastaing the buffalo and elk in the park at that time.

Judy still remembers the stories her grandfather told her here on the farm when she was a child. The best one was how he used to cathc bear. He told her..."you got a bear mad enough to chase you, then you stopped suddenly, when the bear opened his mouth to bite you, you reached down his throat all the way and grab his tail and jerk him inside out!"

She believed him for years & years. Besides, grandfathers are always full of tales of bravery and skill, RIGHT?
