After selling the Merc 25 a couple of years ago (motor was one headache after another), I found a 1985 Johnson 9.9hp for $100.00.
Its in overall good shape, but needs a little work.
I am going to assume right off the top that it needs a carb kit, an impeller and maybe a fuel pump.
Whats your best source for older motor parts for a reasonable price?
Thanks!

Years ago I had a 25 hp Johnson years ago. Don’t be afraid to tear into it. I replaced the reed valves. Since you got the carb off. Replace them. Also order a Johnson repair manual for it too. Make sure the reed valves center screw is tight. I didn’t tighten mine enough. Took me 5 carb rebuild till I found the valve moved. I ordered all from Amazon. Good luck

Carl, this is who I normally go to if I can't find parts locally.

Stay away from Amazon. Ask me how I know!

Those are pretty standard maintenance items.

If you get into needing used replacement items like a lower unit housing, tiller handle, gearshift handle, linkages, I have found this source to be reliable.

Forgot about Tim's. I bought some parts for an older Evinrude from that shop. It's a salvage yard so inventory isn't always immediately know. I was patient and they came up with the parts I needed.
