2011 Traveling Decoy?

I'd love to participate this season and take the lucky duck on a northern hunt. Time is of the essence, duck opens on September 10th up here!

Contrary to what was posted after my post, most are quite picky about using a species of decoy not common to their area.

Most ducks or most hunters? Really, if you're going to be a fuzz-nut about what species of decoy you get to hunt, this is probably not for you, while being able to harvest the "target species" of whatever decoy is chosen is cool, there is SO much more to it than that. I think Dave Sikorski, the founder of the DHBP Traveling Decoy program, put it best when he said:

(Traveling Decoy is about) the spirit of brotherhood and sharing something special amongst old friends and new.

And if you guys think anything but a black duck would look silly in South Jersey...

Definitly not saying anything but a black duck would look silly in South Jersey. My garage is full of mallards, woodies, pintail, widgeon, gadwall, shovelers, bluebills, green-wing teal, blue-wing teal and even cinnamon teal (given as a gag)..Lots of geese. Oh and black ducks.

I appologize if I came across as some sort of "black duck snob". I just hold a special place for black ducks and epecially hand carved black duck decoys. I grew up with stories of my great-grandfather, grandfather, father and lots of freinds and relatives hunting egg island on the Delaware Bay. Starting back before WWII thru the late '60s they had a cabin out there and the majority on ducks shot were blacks. Stories of days when you didn't bother with "little ducks" teal and had huge numbers of "big ducks" mainly blacks. Days when one couls take more than one. And THAT is why I would like a black duck decoy.

Cinnamon teal...that ain't nothin'...I got a Euro Widgeon and a Barrows in my rig :)

It really comes down to what is offered, and how hard you lobby the vote once that starts....vote early and vote often!

BTW no offence taken, I have a bizare sense of humor, so be sure to take what I say with a grain of salt
