Here is the Simmons Sea Skiff that was built two years ago for my best friend/decoy collector and myself. It was built by South Shore Boat Works Inc. in Halifax, Massachusetts. The original design was customized and modified by the builder with a much deeper and wider hull to be used primarilay as a sea duck hunting boat for gunning off New England and Montauk, NY. It is powered by a 90 hp Evinrude E-TEC. I don't remember the exact specs, but it is big!!

Post more pics!

Especially of the dog . . . how in the world do you get the dog back in? Landing net?!

Like the shots of the eiders too, don't hesitate to post more live bird pics!

hi- question-

in the second picture of the boat in the water- love the boat- what is the decoy- i think its a decoy with its wings up????? any pics of that??

Thanks- John--

If you like the pics then I would suggest you buying Keith's new book. The photography, the decoys, and the stories behind them are amazing. The book is also has a lot of information on carving and painting decoys. Keep em coming Keith!!!!

Keith, could you post some interior photos of the stern, very interesting. Love the boat, the high sides should keep ya dry. Any thoughts of a name? I submit "The Ark" I think Noah himself woukld feel safe in that boat on the seas.

Thank you everyone.....I am glad you like the skiff. I have a whole bunch of images to post to continue this thread. I am running late this morning ( I have a class to teach), but I will post them later today!

Thanks again, and check back later in the day.

Regards,

Keith

Of course you need a boat that large for those GINORMOUS eider blocks - most people would confuse them with the mooring buoy! BTW its about time you joined this forum.

Keith, as you know, eider are my favorite birds. Love those buggers! There is nothing better than eider gunning out of a classic wooden boat. These photos are an inspiration for me to get my Grand Banks dory done this spring and into the water. Love the classic and simple lines of that boat. That truly says New England to me.

Thanks for sharing the photos.

Kieth, neat boat! Do you you hunt with your dog out of it and how do you get him in an out? I only ask, as I am constructing a boat an a fabricated aluminum hull that is high and wide and trying to figure out how to get my chessie in and out. Thanks. Mike

THanks for your help Steve and everyone, I think I got the image posting procedure! Keith dont make Jimmy to famous it'll go to his head and they're will be no living with him now.

I figured you'd have eiders/scoters painted on the side at the waterline, just like the old dorys!

Kidding, of course, Keith.

On a serious note, that is a heckuva craft...bet it's awesome to gun from...

Wow, what a great looking boat. Following seas must present no problems given the angle of the transom. What a neat design. I'm guessing that it is unique or at least seldom seen gunning rig.

Eric

Nice boat!! I can't count how many times I have wanted a transom like that one, especially when gunning big water with a layout.

Wow Keith,

That's a tender boat on steroids! It has the lines of an old '55 Chris-Craft Sea Skiff - just bigger and w/o the windsheild. I love those old wooden boats. Feel free to post more pics...please.
