Yes, it was a brisk boat ride in the moonlight, to my chosen location. The warmth and glow from my heater was most welcome.

The sun is swinging more to the South with each passing day.

I pulled off a triple this morning, while only expending two shells. Scotch double with the first shell. Not often does a guy get a triple when he is sporting an over/under. [cool]

Finally, what would a morning duck hunt be, without a bonus squirrel for the bag?

Glad you finally got some real duck hunting weather!
And nice shooting!

You've been having a pretty good season so far. How many squirrel decoys did you put out? Do those fox squirrels decoy to grays?

I think the squirrels come around just to marvel at the grassing job on my boat. But I could be wrong. [whistle]

Yes it has been a good season. Have not noticed a migration push of any kind. I have yet to shoot a Mallard this season.

Hope that squirrel was dispatched with a shotgun and no other potentially illegal arms in the boat with you.

Steel BBs, he made the mistake of exposing just his head,,,,,,,,,,, for a clean shot.

What a great hunt Dave, I took pretty much every species of Duck in N America, but never ever got a wood duck. It just has never happened. I've blasted Hooded Mergansers and they like to hang out in the same places as wood ducks.

I loved squirrel hunting in the manzanita and scrub oak and cedar mix we have in certain places in the Rogue valley. A couple of fat grey squirrels and my old trusty Crossman 760, out stomping the foothills back when everybody let a 13 year old boy hunt their land so long as he didn't scare the cattle and closed all of the gates he had to open to get to where he was going.

Glad to see you are still out there and living the good life.

Looks like a gorgeous morning Dave! I'll be enjoying chilly mornings soon....might even get a duck hunt or two in.

Todd....you want woodducks, come on down to FL. They are a staple down here.
