3M Reinforced Polyurethane Foam Board

Has anyone had any experience with this? I am planning to use it instead of plywood as a floor to add to my Scott Duckboat. Although Scott has made plywood + gelcoat floors for these boats before I can't get them to show any interest in making one for me currently. Then I came across this 3M product which looks to be cheaper, lighter and rot-proof. My plan would be to lay this on top of the current flooring and ribbing, then either carpet it or paint with silica non-skid added to the top coats or two.

Looks interesting. I wish I'd known about this before I re-floored my bay boat.

Just returned from the store with a sheet of the 1/2" foam. The surface is rough like unpainted wood but much harder and abrasive. Fine for below decks where you may glass it into place. In my case I will give it a coat of polyester resin before painiting, since it will be lying loosely against the f/g ribs on the boat floor

Good product. Similar to the other PU foam boards currently selling. Be careful cutting it as the reinforcement fibers can dull blades in half a second.

Looks and sounds like Coosa Board. I used it this spring for a transom on a AA Wigeon that I brought out of the woods after 20 plus years. I read about it ruining blades, however I used a saber saw to cut it and did not have any problems. Also, I used a grinding wheel to put the finishing touches on it and it shaped so nice with the wheel. Two things to rememer: first is that it is fiber reinforced and when cutting or shaping wear protection if you are bothered by fiberglass, second is that it is not UV stable and needs some sort of protection from the sunlight. I am thrilled with the outcome of my transom rebuild and it is like a rock. Good luck.

Thanks, maybe I will use a metal cutting blade in my jigsaw. Also thinking about covering it with brushed-on gelcoat.
