The perfect day was upon us for the 3rd Annual Rutger's Institute Decoy Float. This year we saw a huge jump in the number of decoys that hit the water. The official count was 74 decoys! All species were represented: divers, dabblers, geese, shorebirds, and confidence (canvas Swans by Chuck J).

None of this would have been possible without our "wave maker" and shorebird expert, Kyle H.

Garret and Chase also helped out with throwing and setting the decoys. I'm surprised neither kid fell in:) They loved it!

What makes this day so special is the friendships that have been formed.

Brian F. and Paul Rutgers trading BS while enjoying the day.

We even floated some of Bob Hayden's decoys in Gun Lake. The story is he carved them in the early 60's about 10 miles north of my house by Green Lake. Maybe they were here 40 years ago and now they have come back for a visit? I can't wait to hunt over these.

Finally, here's a nice pair of dekes by Rich Hohler and Kyle.

We even had Eddie K. phone in a visit from the UK!

Who knows what 2011 will hold, but at this rate, the Rutgers Decoy Institute should float a 100 decoy rig next year:) Thanks Pauly for getting this gang together!!!

Those are some awesome helpers you guys got to work the event. Looks like a great bunch of decoys as well. Those divers sure would work great up here.

Thanks for the pictures.

Dave,
Thank you very much for being such a gracious host! What a perfect venue you have for this gathering!

Paul, I listened to horny turkeys in the back seat the whole drive home!! Ha. You are a stand up guy! Thank you again.

Rich, thanks for sharing the Can pattern. I'm looking forward to the next get-together painting party.

Eddie, it was my pleasure to talk with you on the phone.

Chuck, I cannot compliment you enough on those swan decoys. Holy Cow, are those things awesome!

Best,
Brian F.

That looks like a lot of fun. I wish I could find a bunch of guys around here to do something like that with. Thanks for the great pictures.
