Right you are Lee.
Especially on 2 strokes as they are not getting oil in the mix and prolonged use of starting fluid can score the pistons etc. I have never had one or two quick blasts of the stuff to hurt a motor but it is not something I would do more than once or twice. It can get you going in a tight situation and like spare tire in a can,it is only to be used in almost emegency situations. Slow starting usually indicates various other problems.
