Here are a couple birds from this week, with the cold temps my boat has turned into the HMS Ice cube.

The decoy is a Jason Russell that Jason carved during one of our summer get togethers at home with a bunch of other misfits from this site.

Keep chasing them cause I even shot one down here. First one I have ever seen on my part of the river.

Brings back a few memories of redheads. Bear River Federal Bird Refuge had one of the highest nesting densities of redheads in the 60-80's. In the early 80's salt water flooded the refuge and it has never been the same since. Nice picture.

Nice fred! I got your message the other day but due to a hectic week of finals totally forgot about calling you back. On christmas break now till Jan. 1, I'll give you a ring after my hunt tommorow!

Forgot how nice that decoy was that jason carved!

Neat deek Fred. If I had stayed all weekend that time, that thing would have found its way in my bag!
Loos cold up there!

Fred-

Those are some gorgeous birds! Someday I'll get into some mature redheads.......

how cold has it been?

Dani

Fred,

I can't tell you how many times that I have revisited this post just to see that bird again. What a trophy!!! Was it good eating, or you gonna mount it?

Mike,, Dem are eating birds,,,yuuuuummmmmyyyyy!!!

I have several redheads mounted both standing, swimming and dead mounts, they do make a beautiful mount.

Dani, it has been real cold, -6 to 0 the last week on the water, it's finally starting to warm up, just got back from a morning bluebill shoot with the boys, the boat is finally starting to thaw out, there was 4 inches of ice in the motor well this morning.

I'll post up some morning picts later.

Nice bird! Ya'll need to come to the Texas coast. I just looked at about 3000 of those guys today. There in the road ditches, golf course ponds and everywhere else down here. I never get sick of those great looking birds. In this neck of the woods a greenhead is an odity

I hunted south of Corpus Christi last January at the Kennedy Ranch. Holy crow were there birds in that area. Redheads galore. I think it was Bathin Bay area. Would love to get back down there.

Fred,

That is a trophy red for sure! Although I am sure it was a tasty bird, I would've been tempted to take that beaut to the taxidermist!

And pass on congrats to Jason for his nice decoy that lured your prize in!
