A great season so far

What are you most excited for this season?

Since opening day, I've had one of the best years to date of waterfowling. Now that we're Living right on (approx 1/16th mile from landing) a "ducky" lake has been a blast. Lots of 20-40min hunts before work. And with the roughly 1 hr move, all the water I go and hunt is brand new to me, so this year is an adventure so far, and continues to become more exciting all the time. I shot a nice drake bluebill on oct 2- the earliest I've ever taken one home with me. Lots of "weenie" ducks so far.

Katie shot her first goose in the early season, and we are going to stay with my folks so they can watch the kids while we get out of the house early so she can take a whack at shooting her first duck as well. Hopefully a big flock of migrating bluewings will put their little feeties down so she can get a clean and easy shot.

Hope everyone elses season is going well. I can't wait for the ice and the bluebills!

Paul, good to hear your enthusiasm and glad the move was a good one. Sometimes the right change makes all the difference.

Keep on 'em!

Not really sure what I"m most excited about at this point for the season. I had me a grand three week adventure in Montana, and now it's just work until duck season arrives. Definitely do some scouting and exploring, which should be fun. Steve and I might head out to LA to try a weekend on woodcock, but we'll see on that one.

Enjoy living on the lake. I know I enjoy visiting Steve and Debby and hunting bluebills in the river off the dock at their place during the season. Nothing like getting up just before legal, wandering down to toss out a handful of decoys and sit and wait for the birds to show up.

I don't think I will see ice but I too cant wait for the bluebills to show up!
We haven't had many for the last 3 years, hopefully they will come on down this year. We'll see how it goes.
