a new world

Exciting Dave, I really enjoy that stage just trying to discern their future identity.

Beaver is at 9 months, so a big pup now.

"Cinnamon", that's what she will be called, has been home now just starting the third day. I have learned a bit about how quickly she makes her food disappear and how soon it will reappear in a different form. Only really had one accident so far inside. [whistle]

For now, she either eats, sleeps, or explores the confines of her as yet small kingdom. For the most part, she is content to sleep, which makes us very compatible at this point in time. She does enjoy chasing after a duck wing, tied with a string to a long dowel rod. Also likes to follow bugs around and pick up any little piece of bark or twig found in the yard, sit down and chew on it.

Next to sleeping, her 2nd favorite inside pastime, is a toss-up between cuddling with me or chewing on the kitchen table legs and chair legs. Fortunately these are stainless steel and able to withstand her puppy teeth. I gave her a chew toy and it receives about a third of her chewing efforts.

Cinnamon has a crate for overnight use and I have spent 2 nights now, sleeping on the kitchen floor right next to her. I don't really mind the sleeping part. I am well cushioned with my camping mattress, but getting up from the floor is not as easy as it once was.
