I was coming off the water at a boat launch on Casco Bay in Maine when a nice fellow with NY plates blocked my truck in and proceeded to pepper me with questions about duck hunting and bird watching in coastal Maine. Turned out to be our own James Woods, visiting family renting a house down on the coast.
We chatted for a bit--I think he has a picture of the only black duck that was harmed on today's hunt.
James, let me know next time you are visiting. I shot ok today on the one bird that dropped into my spread, but my buddy Andy--who was set up across the creek and was pulling all the birds to his decoys--missed at least two pairs that were right in front of his blind.
We may be out again before the holiday, and usually hunt the bay a lot between Christmas and New Years. We can probably find you a seat in a boat, and I'd be proud to have you in the bow of my canoe to help break ice in the dark!
