Aluminum Marsh Boat

I posted this on duck hunting chat, but figured some of you would like to see it also. It's my first aluminum build although not my last. 10x36 made out of .100. I can run my yamaha 4 hp or the trolling motor. I also have a pole and some quick fist mounts to put on the combing. I'm actually in the process of making a small bicycle trailer to put it on. We have some walk in only hunting areas that I really want to take this boat. It is small and kind of heavy for its size, but I like it. I may build a small long tail for it although I'll need to add pods for the extra weight.

Very nice work Cole. Wish I had the tools and talent to whip something like that out. Good stuff........dc

Thank you all for the kind words. Its always fun to show off things you have built as most of us know, but it is cool to pad great internet with more ideas for someone else to draw on when they build their own. Hopefully my "experiment" boat will lead to many more of my own and inspire others to go for it. It really isn't that hard and doesn't take much skill. I'd argue that many of the wooden boats I've seen on this site require another level of accomplishment.

Thats a great looking boat. It'd be awsome to have an aluminum sneak. i was looking at a Ducker at some womens house the otherday but she would NOT sell it to me. She said it was her husbands and it had sentimental value. Can't argue with that. MInd if i ask what this cost to build? You dont have to break it down for me, im just curious what all the aluminum cost you.

Aluminum cost $514. With wire and gas (what I used on the boat) for the welder another $80. Handles, rod holder, paint, flooring... came out around $660 total for materials. I really couldn't have bought one of the commercially available ones for that price. I would think I could probably sell it for around $850 around here if I tried. I guess that would cover the cost of labor for me enough to build another one. I don't know, what do you think it would be worth. I'm not really planning on selling it though unless I get a wild hair and decide to build another just like it right away.

Cole,
I would like to see what you come up with for wheels for the walk in. I have a spot that has about a 1\4 mile hike in and is no motor allowed.

Thanks for the dollar estimate. We have seen a huge increase in the price of AL out here, as I am sure you have too.

Cole that is over the top cool for a walk in. Nice job.

You hit the nail on the head for that application.

Thanks again for the pictures.
