Always check your gun barrel for obstructions!

Tuesday I made the fatal mistake and it cost me a shotgun and 2 fingers. I hardly used those fingers anyway but I'm still going to miss them. I am doing great...2 fingers from my left hand is minor compared to what it could have been plus I believe with all my heart what it says in Romans 8:28. I'll give the story in detail for the benefit of everyones saftey when I can type with both hands again.

Oh man, that makes me ache just thinking about it. Sorry about the loss of your appendages and glad it wasn't worse. Heal up fast !

Ron,

I am sorry to hear about your accident . I hope you fell better soon .

Ron,
sure don't like hearing about anyone getting hurt. Safety is no joke and you are very good to let us know about your accident. I hope you can get back to your work and family activities without too much delay.

Hello everyone,
This was my 870. I lent it to a friend who lent his gun to a family member who was coming to town and they wanted to do some pheasant hunting. A simple mis-step. My buddy said he didn't even know it touched the ground.
Thank God no one was injured. I have since lent it to a friend who teaches hunted ed.

Ron:
That really makes me sick--really sorry for you and the loss of the fingers---the gun can always be replaced. Thanks for sharing a sad story.

Ron,

Sorry to hear about the fingers, my best to you and hope for a speedy recovery. If you can post a picture of the shotgun when you post the details, I'll print off a few copies and hang them up at the gun clubs and sporting goods shops I frequent.

Get well soon!

Ron,
Thank God it was "only" your fingers. Apparently no one else was injured. Could have been worse as i know youare aware. Hope your recovery is fast and relatively pain free.

Sorry to hear that Ron, have had it happen to me years ago on a goose hunt, but I was lucky and it managed to blow the barrel in half without the loss of any fingers. At least you have a good attitude about it and I respect you for it. Hope you heal quickly as we will miss your posts around here until you are back in typing shape. All the very best.

I am so sorry to hear that. Sure hope the loss has no effect on your job or livlihood.

My father-in-law's cousin, Skippy, had a similar incident. A Remington rifle blew apart when he was out hunting. Toar his hand to shreds and forced him into early retirement and ended his decoy carving hobby. In his case it was determined the rifle was flawed and he received a settlement from Remington. No amount of money can replace what was lost.

Glad your injuries were not worse.
