Dani and I had a fun Teal shoot over Susie...

and my newest addition to the decoy collection; a Bufflehead by Dani which she created for me for Christmas. It's looking like eventually I'll have a buffie rig, what with the other fine buffies I have from Mike and Jason.

We had a cold front move through this morning. The front had the birds flying and it was one of those Florida teal hunts on public land where silence is quickly followed by the sounds of battle, then eventually the dwindling of guns, down to skirmishes with the teal, as each group kill their limit.

The teals were still flying as we picked up to leave. Someone could have, and may have, shot a limit or 2 more right where we left our palm fronds.

It was a fun morning spent with one of my favorite duck hunting buddies.

George-

It's the only duck huntin' hat I haven't lost. It's got an elastic band most of the way around so it won't come off my head! :) It's a welding cap my dad gave me when he started teaching me to weld. I may get some spray paint and ghettofy camo it up. Isn't it ugly?!?! hehehehe

That was a pretty good day. The rain....well the first rain was warm. Then came the wind. By then though the wet shirt came off to be replaced with my dad's long johns, long sleeved shirt from when he was in Antarctica. He's never going to see those long johns again. They are now my sole property to be used by me and only me. I changed into it, it started raining again, and even wet I was warm. So, I'm not giving them up. <insert evil laugh>

But it was a good day. Teal flying about 90 mph, shooting everywhere, teal everywhere, a nice little hole, plenty of wind, a few good shots, and some not so good shots :). Then came the mile long paddle back against a 30 mph headwind. Still not horrible, but I'm sore today. I did get my limit with 5 teal and 1 ringer.

not a great picture, but oh well. I have a few others that I'll post when I can look at them again. :) a fun day though

I didn't want to break the ice on a comment on your bonnet but now that George has commented all I can say is the teal must have liked it. Great shooting--those teal are a challenge.

Ok...lets rag on the hat :) it's useful, though ugly...plus it gets covered up with a face net anywho.....

Great post and a great hunt you two.

Thanks for showing Susie some great weather and introducing her to some teal.

Looks more like an old pair of PJ's to me,,,,,,, but I'll take your word for it.

Sounds like you all had a good time. Hope you get a few morer days like that this season. Keep the pics coming. (and the hat covered) BWAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Well Danibeth,

I think you've accomplished all of your goals with respect to the hat thing. I'm just sad you didn't pack the Diva shades - I hated them.

This is not a question I can answer George. It is entertaining though. We have a great shoot on the Teals, and you all talk about the hat!! Personally I hated the sunglasses more. Maybe she broke them and simply returned them to Liz Clayborne for repair.

hmmmm the Diva glasses and the welding hat.....I'll have to remember that...there's a fashion statement if ever there was one.

Nope they aren't destroyed....still sittin in my truck

Steve-

I haven't heard from you since telling you of my escapades on the opening day hunts I had. From any of my accounts. I was wondering if you didn't love me anymore? sigh I'll get over it.

Man I miss Florida this time of year!

Hitch how far where you two from Pelican? I saw spots out there that looked like this type of marsh only dryer when we were down.
I also like the hat. If you look at water surface with broken reflections it looks the same. That young lady must be a camo inovator.

you implying that she wore it purely to get attention from the men on this site --- ???????

Uh George, That's what women do.

It's either what they are wearing or what they aren't wearing that is supposed to get our attention. Personally, I like a little of both. hehe
