Hotter than blazes, lightning bugs flashing in and out on the ride into the hole, and a coupla birds putting in an appearance, though only one taking me up on the invite to dinner...not a bad day...

Teal season??? Never seen a teal with that color variation ...... but I've seen plenty of wood ducks look like that. Just kinda confused?!?!?!? Nice picture though.

Florida's teal season includes wood ducks.

Good going Dani. Still some woodies and teal way up north here too. I even shot a few this weekend but ours are in the regular season.

because we have wood ducks. Unfortunately one of the places that is holding a lot of teal is open on monday only and I can't take the time off from work to go...sooooooooooo I went to some local wood duck haunts and chased. Today I shot two, but one of them dove before I could get to him and then popped up behind me and flew off. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr so this little lady came home all by her lonesome.

Dani, Looks like fun. We open next Sat. here and I'm packed and ready to roll. Got the fiirst three weekends figured out but the rest of the season will have to see what develops. Good luck, Wick on and keep 'er shiny side up.

Good way to start the season. I know you did not carve that blue-eyed teal but did you carve any of the others? We are having the best early season we have had in 10 years. Lots of BWT.

Tom-

Good luck to you next weekend. I know I eagerly await our opener for regular season...the weekend prior to Thanksgiving....FOREVER away!! Have fun

Dani

Ron-

Nice to hear that you're having a great teal season. Teal are few and far between up here, at least I haven't been seeing many. A shame cuz I love those little buggers. No I didn't carve any of the others. They were all given to me. I did finally finish my ringnecks I was working on. One of them I liked a lot...the other one...well his head was kinda thin...bwahahahah I'll see if I can get a picture or two of them at some point and show em to you...

Dani,

I am in the UP of Michigan. Today I had my own teal and wood duck season I guess even though we don't get one being a breading state. If your not seeing many BWT it may be because they are still up north.

sorry for the how beat up they are in the picture but it was a really really wet morning.

Brandon seeing any migrating birds yet? I am heading up there on Friday for a week of hunting in Schoolcraft county.

Brandon-

Everything's still pretty green up there huh? Looks like you had a good day for sure...send em down this way!

Dani

Dani,

Nice pictures, I do love woodies. Those pictures of decoys are nice too, I still love that Blue Eyed Teal, I was wondering if it would be in your pictures.

I am with Brandon, don't be expecting all OUR Teal yet, I got 8 this weekend, all BLUE winged. Still high numbers of them flying around, but cold rainy weather is predicted all week so chances are they will start moving down.

Good luck hunting this year.

I just can't visualize hunting in that heat. But, as they say, "someone has to do it". :-)

How right you are...who'dve guessed that the sunscreen would be sitting next to the thermacell in the blind bag to go duck hunting? But I'll be happy to do it...

Dani, I hunted Lake O the last 3 days, haven't seen that many bluewings sine the early 80s. On Saturday I was set up to far to the north but had every duck come in that u couldn't shoot. Sunday and Monday limited out. The guy next to us shot a banded blue wing. Being so many birds this early and getting a report from North Dakota where the guys a saying that there's still plenty of blue wings we should have a great season in Fl...John

Opps I guess my reply did not work.

We are not seeing any flight birds yet but its getting cold here and in the north so the teal should push out soon. Lots of locals this year though.

Been having lots of fun with the Woodducks and Mallards this week.

Just a little spot I found. Have not hunted it yet was not holding to many birds but its so pretty I might have to hunt it just for the view.
