Good morning, All~
We initiated the 2018-19 season yesterday with a Youth Hunt. I met both this year's Youth - Sean - and his Dad yesterday morning - by headlight in the driveway of gunning partner Cap'n Cod ( a nom de guerre to be sure).
I set the rig on a favorite farm pond. The morning was chilly with fog in all of the lower areas.

Father and Son shared the middle blind - right in front of the rig.

Our hides are simple: folding stools behind a length of wire fencing stapled to a pair of wooden posts. The surrounding cover is mostly Goldenrod.

Boneset is one of my Fall Favorites.

Seeds from Bur Marigold (aka Beggars Ticks) and Rice Cutgrass are on the menu here.

A windless morning meant that the previous night's work was still intact.

Six-year-old Boo got her first retrieve of the new season. She maneuvered around (mostly) my Herter's Model 63 Mallards and Blacks and a pair of E. Allen Woodies.

Return trip.

The prize. Our Newest Gunner dropped this stooling Hen before she could escape.

The Grand Cycle continues....
