Another trek, this time, Illinois River History...

Well, Tim and I hit the road again. Actually, this trek occurred before the trip to Wisconsin. This time, we journeyed to Central Illinois along the Illinois River near Havana. I had a lead on some old decoys. Tim and I spent the morning with Illinois River local Ernie Hoff. Ernie has been collecting decoys longer than most of us are old. He has quite a collection of Illinois River decoys and, knows the history on each one. Then, the real surprise was going out in Ernie's garage to see his Model A and Model T and, Edsel. Ernie shared with us that in 1947, he drove his Model A from Havana, Illinois to New York City, New York.

What a day we had and what a step back in time it was. Ernie had quite a collection of sporting goods. And, guess who the amatuer photographer in the mirror is???

God bless Ernie Hoff for sharing his goodness. I appreciate his contributions to waterfowling history and, his willingness to share it... Pat

thanks for all the cool pictures of these trips.

I had john read your posts. He really liked the ford and the pocket pistol.
Decoys and boats are amazing in these stories.
