I'm looking for a review. Found a new one at a price to good to be true but dont know anyone
who has shot one. My first thought is "how bad could it be?" but I would like to check with you guys first.

Thanks
Geoff

My primary duck duck goose gun is a franchi 912 ive never seen the i 12 my 912 is awsome i love it it is the semi auto gas operated 3.5 inch super gun and it accepts benelli chokes

Geoff,

I have not had one in hand yet, but knowing that since Franchi and Stoeger was bought out, they both now use the Benelli ID action in their auto's. I could not pass up the Stoeger M-2000 last year with the ID action for under $400. I took it to Montana last October and shot it, I shot it 90% of the duck & goose season and I have yet to clean it! I love the gun and it has fed everything from 2-3/4 lowbase to 3" heavy goose loads without a single problem. I decided from the start that I would not clean the gun until it jammed or gave me a problem. It will be interesting to see how many rounds it will take before it mal-functions. It came with four flush chokes Cyl., I/C. Mod., I/M and an extended FULL turkey/Goose choke which is on the gun for tomorrows turkey opener.

I imagine that the new Franchi I-12 will be another good ID gun. Here I see it comes in MAX-4 camo (below).

I did look at a Benelli and Stoeger side by side a couple years ago. The parts looked identical. Except it seemed the Benaelli parts were smoother and maybe coated with something to make them slick. I assume that the Franchi I-12 is the same. Same parts just more spit and polish on the expensive Benelli.

That is basically tru Andrew and one squirt of "Break-Free" and I turned my Stoeger into a Benelli! The test of time and not cleaning mine will eventually tell the difference. All I know is that Rick Ketcham had to break down his Benelli every night of our two week Montana hunt becasue it would not always function right. Every day it would start screwing up and he would just shake his head and cuss it. He sent it down the road when he got home and bought two new Beretta Extrema's, one for him and one for his son. Everytime I would offer him my $395 Stoeger he'd just give me the evil eye and when he knew that I never cleaned my Stoeger once on the whole trip, even when we were shooting geese from our layout blinds in the dusty wheat fields and our guns were covered in dust and straw..........that really got to him :^)

Geoff I shot a 712 12ga all last season and the end of 2005. Love it never has failed on me its the older modle that the "I-12" replaced. A buddy of mine shoots the "I" all last season and never had issues reliable gun.
