Anybody heard of an Olt 88 duck call?

My dad has an Olt 88 single plastic reed duck call. It's new in the box and he's had it for decades. I've blown it many times in the house, but he won't part with it. We've looked around, but people don't seem to know squat about them and we haven't been able to locate one for me.

If anyone has any info, or better yet one to sell, I'd love hear about it.

Thanks!

Nick,
Contact Dave Jackson of DJ Calls. He was a Master call maker for the old Olt Company and he is now making some of the old Olt calls as well as his own.

He's a great guy and would be the best one to help ya.

Hope this helps.

Nick, the first call that I ever owned was a Olt 88. Once I stopped using it I gave it to the kids to play with. Then we got Woody, the pup. It soon became his chew toy. Needless to say It's ancient history..................Good luck with the search.................Kevin

I have several Olts. Black plastic right? Simple & effective and I recall they were not very expensive.

I used my dad's old Olt #88 (wood barrell and insert - single reed) for the majority of this season until the insert cracked and I retired it to the shelf for safe keeping. I'd like another to replace it as I love the deep raspy tones. Thanks for the link for the replacement. On second thought , maybe it's a Olt #66. Don't know the label is worn off.

Nick, Try EBAY I got a few of them from there, along with other Olt calls. If I remember right I think I payed around $40. I use one and I got a couple put a way.

Thanks for the link!

He seems pretty high priced on a lot of his calls, but that olt 88 is checkered. That would be neat!!

When I read this this I went to dig up my old OLT calls.
I have a 66 duck & an 800 goose.
I tried Googling the 88 and found mostly sites for selling.
Is there any place to find historical info on calls?

I reciently picked up a copy of 'the Art of American Game Calls' by Russel Lewis. I actually found it at Bargin Books, a chain (locally any way) that dicounts overstock. Dr Lewis is a professor at Ferris State University, and I believe Paul told me he has invited him to speak at the Rutgers Institute.

Unfortunately, I checked it when this post first came up, and was not able to locate any info on the Olt 88 call

I also searched the net for a few hours late last night about it. I was mistaken about my dad's old call. It is a #66, not #88. Info is scarce on the #88.
