Anyone else having trouble getting ammo?

I saw Chris S's post looking for .22lr and called around. I was surprized to hear that most of the gun shop around here are sold out of .22LR.
I called a shop that I pass on my way home from work and found the same thing, none available. I started to call a few more. There is some out there but not mush. One shop owner told me he is limiting purchases to 1 box of 100 rounds per customer and he is happy to be able to sell that. So I started asking about other calibers I use. No .22LR, no .35 Rem and no.44 mags. I can't believe it is so had to get ammo now. I hate to fuel the fire but I can't get over the fact that it so hard to get. I have not been paying much attention to standard ammo since I have only been shooting shotguns for the last few months.
Is anyone else having the same problem?

I made a post about this a few days ago. But not only is it hard to get but get ready to pay astronomical prices for it! Something has got to give and I hope it's not the gun owners.

I feel like I just donated blood at the shop. I was able to find some ammo and paid twice what I normally would. Guess it's the ol supply and demand pricing. I hate paying retail let alone higher than retail.
I think we should start a new thread or sticky and pool our buying resources.
I have been calling every gun shop around and have found small bits and pieces of inventory here and there but not much of what I'm looking for.

Like all others around the country, we're having the same problem @ the PD.

A case of .380 went from $280.00 to $500.00

We try to keep 100,000 rounds in the armory @ all times.

Sounds like alot but when you have to qualify (175) one hundred & seventy-five officers (2) twice a year, you can blow through it pretty quick.

We're still allowing guys to go to firearm schools on-duty but they have to supply their own ammo.

We allow a few different calibers for on & off-duty but unless your shooting 9mm, 45cal, .223 or .308 the officers now have to supply their own ammo for qualifying & carry (.22/.380/.38/.357).

If you can afford it though, buy stock in the gun & ammo companies.

A great investment right now!!!

I keep a pretty healthy supply of 9mm, .22cal, .223, .308, 12g & 410g @ the house for zombies.

Strange though.

The last time I was out on October 31st, everyone of them was carry a bag a candy!!!

Very strange!!! lol

I've not had any problems. The store I use places a purchase limit on ammo when the hoarders get started. There are online sources still advertising .22 ammo in sales adds but who knows if they have any.

Try this website.

www.gunbot.net

It will show you most of the places online and exactly what they have in stock. It only has rifle and handgun loads but I have been seeing a lot of shotgun shells everywhere I go. There are still deals to found you just have to do more leg work then before.

John I work as a manufactors sales rep and the ammo company I sell for is already sold out for the year with existing orders that they couldn't fill.
They are running the 223 line 24/7 in only 55gr so that they don't have to stop to re-tool. The gun line is also sold out for the year as well.

I was in Cabelas the other day and they had no .22LR at all. No 30-30 but had tons of 5.62.
Is it really a run on ammo or are the manufacturers holding back? Who knows but it is crazy when you cant find .22LR!

Yes, 22 LR is VERY hard to find. My neighbor happened to be at a local gun store today when they got their delivery ans was able to buy a case. Other than getting lucky like he did it is getting crazy out there for ammo.
