Anyone got plans for "static" oarlocks for a sneakbox?

I'm not impressed with the folding oarlocks on my sneakbox.

Does anyone have plans for simple blocks to mount the oarlocks on, or in, that would mail, fax, or email them to me?

Or, heck, if you had some laying around, I'd probably buy them from you. I don't have time to make any right now, so I'm going to have a buddy make em for me.

Any help would be appreciated . . . otherwise I'll have to draw them up myself, and that would be pretty comical.

Thanks!

I went fixed on mine too. The originals were the traditional fold down, but while they probably would have functioned fine, I went a little fancier...

What hight and width and length did you make the blocks for your orelocks plus what is the hight of the colming on your BBSB mate. Thanks in advance.

All good questions Eddie, I'll take some measurements to night. The coaming is not as high as I would have liked, I was working with the lumber I had, if I was doing it again, I would add another inch or so perhaps. The oar locks are the same height as the originals where when in the up position. They are 2" thick mahogany. I used the bronze sockets and have the round oar locks that I will install on my oars that I plan to make this winter, with leathers and buttons.

I cut the bottom of them to match the angle of the deck, then installed backing board under the deck and drilled up through. Used thickened epoxy between the deack and the oar locks, and SS lag bolts. Hope they hold! I am comfortable they will handle rowing stresses, and am hoping they will hold up to being used as a handle as I tend to grab them going in and out of the box.

I post measurements tonight.

Eddie, my oarlocks are 12 3/4" long, 2 inches thick, 5 inches high. The flat across the top is 4 inches, and each of the contact pads on the deck are 5 inches long. I just played around with some cardboard until I had something I though looked nice and was proportional to the boat.

that I may be going in for more surgery on my hand so I want to tackle it when it is all healed up.

Thanks mate, I have now been into my workshop and made the Blocks out of English oak to the diamentions you gave me and they look great.
I first started off by making a cardboard template and my bandsaw did the rest. Now back to training my little girl Amber.
