Folks,

Was curious if anyone has hunted up in the Labrador/Nova Scotia area? I'd like to touch base with a guide in the area for some information, or maybe book a hunt.

Thanks for any information and insights.

Best,
Nate Grace

Nate: I hunted with Marty Vandergraft at PEI some years back he has name of a good guide,Dave McCallum, there was an articale about him in wildfowl mag some years back by a maine writer.give Marty a call as you know him. Bill

I live here and nova scotia and there are couple other Bluenozers here as well ,Brad yeaton i believe is from the south shore..as for outfitters here never used there services so i cant say as to any or how good they are...

we all just get in our trucks drive to the coast and jump in our boats and go huntin....

what kindo ducks you after?when and what time of the season you gonna hunt.
it starts oct 1st for half the province the other half starts oct 8th and run thru to dec and jan.

depends on what coast your on as to what kind a burd you may see.eidahs ,squaw, coots, scooters, whistlers, mergs ,blacks, mallards, teal G&B ,blues, rings, pintails jeeze there all here and big canadas up to 17lbs ive gotten.

limits are good 5 geese a day ,ducks puddle 4 and 2 [4 only black or mallard]2of anything else.seaducks limits vary for each species

1/2 hour before legal sunrise to 1/2hour after legal sunset times posted in handbook.

if your paying for someone to take you hunting he has to be a registerd guide.
if no monies are to change hands there are 3 day or more ,permits for friend to take outa province friend hunting.

hope this helps

Shermie...

now pei is a totaly different cup o tea its guide central and there in the travel booklet i believe ....

Nate,
I live in the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador, I may be able to help you. What are you planning on hunting, waterfowl or big game.

Thanks all for the great info. I am hoping to bring my dory up this fall to hunt eider mostly. I've seen some programs about the Bay of Fundy, but the tides and currents there look wicked. I guess I would try and get up there in early October to meet the first part of the migration. Still in the planning stages though. I need to do some more info. gathering.

Thanks again!
