Anyone interested in a South Dakota pheasant/deer trip.

I have a 6 man/5 day pheasant/deer hunt with local farmers in the Aberdeen area of South Dakota that was donated (reduced cost) to my California Waterfowl Assoc. banquet. The problem is that my banquet is in Nov. and though the hunt is valid from Oct.-Jan. the best time to go is in mid Oct. There "may" be a mobile home provide for lodging but go with the assumption that you have to bring a trailer or get a room. The locals will be there to get you on private ground, semi guide you, and help you get your birds/deer. As an out of stater, you are allowed 2 deer per person but both must be does. The hunt providers are not licensed guides, they are local farmers/hunters willing to help out a good cause. All I need out of it is $600/man ($3,600). If anyone is interested, e-mail me at kevin.layne@farmcreditwest.com

You may want to check your time frame. While pheasant season opens the 2/3 weekend in October, deer season in that part of SD does not open until mid November, not sure the date they haven't set it yet but is traditionally then. It is always the problem here go deer hunting or go duck hunting when it is usually at its best. Not to be nit picky of your hunting trip but do they people that donated this discount this know of your intentions? To me it is a little shady to have something given to your waterfowl club for a "good cause" to be raffled/auctioned off, only to use it for yourself because the time doesn't' fit. Rather then asking if it could apply for the next year and the winer could have a year to plan and possibly draw a duck license as well. Just my $.02

Allan, Where do you get your assumption that I am using this for myself? Instead of selling this in the auction at my banquet, I am trying to sell it prior to tha banquet for timing reasons. Either way, all net proceeds go directly to the cause. I am making nothing on this!!!

Also, the people offered it for this year. Next year is not an option (at least not at this price).

And yes, the donors are fine with this.

Thats good, I am sorry if I seemed accusing, however they way I read it come of that way, sorry. But you will want to be conscious of the time period, if people come here in October expecting to go deer hunting the season is simply not open until November and that was the point of my original post.

The antlerless deer season should run from Nov 17 until Dec 9 this year. If you want to shoot them with a muzzleloader you could get tags that would run from Dec 8 until past the end of pheasant season. I guess you could bow hunt before the 17th of Nov if they can handle that so you could go at any time of the pheasant season. I believe any type of the two antlerless tags are the same price.
