Anyone want to go hunting tomorrow?

I am thinking tomorrow and Saturday may be very good days here... hopefully...

They are saying upwards of 8" of snow by the end of the day on Saturday... Between the 8" of snow and temps in the single digits next week, a lot of water will be getting hard quick.... Season is open until the 9th.....

I'd make the drive up tomorrow but my truck has an owey and the parts won't be in til tomorrow afternoon.

Good luck Phil and be safe...

Yeah unless your hunting the main channel you might as well bring your ice skates phil. The water level dropped and so did the temps.

hehe nice Dave! I have soooooo many things that I want to say to that.. but since this is a PG site... Then Dave, you should come with!

Phil,

Parts of 8 and the north 2/3rds of 9 were open yesterday (weds.) afternoon but were kept that way with the little wind we had. After no wind last night and tonight I seriously doubt that anything on 8 or 9 will be huntable anymore this year. The odd chance would be the main channel on 9 but that looked iffy to me. Good luck if you go. I'll be out the last three days but not there.

Just got word from a guy that 9 was huntable today.. but thought tomorrow will be difficult hunting...

Thanks for the input, Pete, Brian, and Pat.

You sure were talking abou the same thing....?

Pete saw a guy spuding his way out north of stoddard today to ice fish most of the backwaters on 9 are pretty much done

John, you'd have a long drive to the Mississippi!! Better start now! I debate on taking off today to go out but couldn't do it with our first wrestling tournament tomorrow. Always next year.

I'm going, but I dont think I will have to worry about ice on Mobile Bay!!!
I do wish the divers would show up in good numbers. We have tons of gadwalls, but that is about it.

Phil, where are you located? I'm in NW Montana.

John

NE Iowa... I guess you didn't make it... but I would love to duck hunt in Montana. ( I LOVE GNP)

Well, There was plenty of open water and ample bird activity. I could have easily had my limit early, but I was concerned that the birds would have fallen on suspect Ice.... I was overly cautious I think, as I saw ice fisherman out... O Well... I got 2 huge greenhead (not the good kind... they were Mallards) and a Gaddy... I think one weighed in at 15 pounds.... a real monster!!!!!

It is snowing here now... I am sure that more of the river will be locking up rapidly...

It was a balmy 10 degrees this morning... made it up to 20 when we were done hunting....
