I'll be working as a staff assistant (glorified secretary) for the state police here in Jax. Good things: comes with benefits, much more money than I'm currently making, and a foot in the door for other state jobs. Bad things: I have to wear shoes and make sure my pants are totally buttoned and shirts on correctly. *sigh* Oh well. I'm excited though. I start Mar 9. Yippeeeeeeeee that means I can start saving some moolah so that I can go out west and hunt sea ducks with Steve, go to Argentina again and *ugh* pay off school loans and then some day also buy my own place!

Congratulations. Exciting times starting a career. I bet the crime rate drops in half when you start work. We know you'll do great.

Bookem Dani.

GOOD! Now I have an "in" when I get popped in Florida...Congrats young lady, with your great attitude you will go far. Good choice on employment too...Gubmint employees don't have to worry about the economy..too much.

Hi Dani, Got your email an all understood. Congradulations on the new job, you made the smart choice. You will do well on the new job and like you say, it will get a foot in the door for future State jobs that come along. I'm proud of you! P.S. don't let them catch you spending a lot of time on the DHBP at work, haha! Let me know how things work out.

Dani:
I had heard from a secret source of your new job but wanted you to have the fun of letting the forum know so congrats and we'll look forward to your reaching up and passing thru the glass ceiling thru the years.

Good fortue with your new adventure, Dani! Only problem with work is that it does tend to interfere with hunting!!! Stay busy, and for heaven's sake, TRY to keep your shoes on for the first few weeks, anyway. That WILL make a great impression on the bosses.

Dani,

That's great. My mother retied after working 25 years for the Illinois State Police. She said it had been a good carreer, the benefits were good and well,..... name dropping kept me out of trouble a few times over the years. LOL Welcome to the real world.

Bad things: I have to wear shoes and make sure my pants are totally buttoned and shirts on correctly. *sigh*

i can't believe nobody made any jokes about this statement -- leads me to want to ask alot of questions about what your old job was? hahahahaha

good luck in the "working world" - 30 more yrs. and you can retire! lol

my 'old' job...well I'm not required to wear much at all...it's not one of those places where shoes and shirts are exactly required. :) I'm sure the peanut gallery will have much to say about that

Congrats on the new job. By the way, never did answer the question, what is your old job?

I also liked Eric comment on the crime rate dropping, but didn't understand where he was going with it. Was it because you work for the police or because you now have a full time job to keep you busy? LOL

Good Luck

Andrew
