Avery dog blind customer service is for the dogs.

I have an avery finisher dog blind and one of the rods broke.
I though it would be an easy repair, sending in back and having them fix it.
As it turns out avery does NOT FIX the dog blinds. Now keep in mind I paid good money for the blind and now it is useless.
I spoke with the costomer service rep and was told if it was under warranty they would replace it.
But it is not under warranty so they will not fix it and charge me. I asked if they would allow me to return it and charge a service charge and replace it. They do not do that either.
Does this seem right???
I am really upset with the customer service or lack of customer service.

Please let me know what you think of avery customer sevice.

Probably made in China and I bet they dont even have parts in this country.

Bill,

That particular blind is famous for the rods breaking with dogs that are energetic, when the one I have did the same thing I purchased tent aluminum spare poles from eureka, a tent manufacturer and replaced the broken one by drilling out the broken fiberglass and replacing it with a section of the aluminum. You just have to make sure you get the correct diamater aluminum.

My other solution was to buy the Ground Force dog blind which is made from aluminum poles and is a much nicer blind.

If you need any help with the repair just ask.

Not sure what you need, but I have a bundle of old fiberglass tent poles I have accumulated from Scouts.... send me a picture or dimensions and I might have what you need. They also sell repair kits at the camping section on walmart and dicks etc....

The best dog blind is a old finisher layout field blind with the seat cut out. It is far lower profile than any blind designed for dogs. I turn the blind around and fold the foot bag under. The dogs look out the hole where a hunters head would be. I can easily fit 3 large labradors in it. Easy to hide with other blinds in a field or on shore of a pond.

Thanks for the advise. I guess the best solution in next time by a ground force blind.
I will replace the broken rod.
Do you think I am expecting to much when I ask the company to repair and charge me for a repair?
Should there be a disclamer on produces stating only covered under warranty,
Not repairable by factory after the warranty is over.

They probably don't fix them because it would cost them more to fix than what it costs to have a new one made in China and shipped here. It retails for $85. That means it probably cost them around $20 to have it made and imported. For them to fix it they'd have to charge you $50 plus shipping both ways.....It's a throwaway product that you replace every 2-5 years depending on usage.

But that being said, if the rods have a tendency to break, they should sell replacement rods....
