Guys i am thinking about purchasing some of the Avery Killer wed to hide the Cackler this season a little better in 1 of our spots , has anyone used this on there rigs and how does it hold up ? Looking at the website it says a 5 lb bag covers a 18 foot boat my boat is 14 is this really the case or do i need a larger bag . How does it compare to other artificial grasses on the market ?

Thanks

Dave I bought some of the winter wheat. Ive never had any of the tan colors. I bought it to blend in with out winter wheat fields for hiding the layout blinds. Ive used it the past two years and it has held up well for me. I cut it into 6-8 inch lengths and zip tied it to clothes pins to attach to the layout. I'll buy more of the same when it needs replacing.
I think you can get a better deal on bulk raffia though from jsterns for doing a boat.

Dave,

I have a avery layout blind and used 2 lbs to cover that blind. If you are wanting to just break-up and scatter the material around the boat you might do well if you start from the top and hang longer lengths down. If you really want to make it look grassy you might need slightly more than 5 lbs. The stuff does go a long way depending on the lengths you cut. I wire tied small handfuls from 10 to 24" inches long through the layout blind. I always add natural vegetation to my loops in the various rice fields I have been hunting to blend in. You might want to think about adding additional local materials when you get into the spot you are hunting. Best case...Try the 5 lbs...You can always purchase more or use natural vegetation to fill in the gaps.

THe tan is nice it fades into a marsh grass color after getting muddy and wet I also take a cheap can of flat black paint from wally world and mist the grass.lightly.to.give it a shade
