BBSB & Mr.Whiskey

Just a few photos of yesterdays hunt in CT.with my chessie, Whiskey. It's rare for me to get a limit of greenheads but with my 14ft.Classic BBSB it just seems a little easier.I've owned a jon boat, and a TDB-14,but the low profile of the BBSB just seems to fool the birds!!While not having the speed or being able to carry as much of a load as the 2 other boats I am really impressed by this boat. The boat has a real old 7.5hp on it now but next year I will upgrade to a 15hp. outboard.GOOD LUCK & HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL!!!!! very cool boat...cool dog as well...

im looking to build a bbsb this summer...what type is yours?

The boat is a 14ft Classic barnegat. It's all fibreglass and was made in Maryland, the company is now in PA.Check them out at www.classicbarnegat.com. I do ALOT of seaduckin in R.I.,sold my tdb to get my Lund, and after awhile of not hunting fresh water bought this boat.

Very cool. the sea ducks were strange this year. slow coming in this year, then there was a ton with that cold front, then it seemed to drop off. go figure. my friend and i hunt the salt marshes alot so a shallow drafting sneakbox will be our best bet i think.

my friend has a 21ft tdb, nice boat, but i wouldn't call it an ocean boat. flat bottom and it looks like a submarine! the lunds are great boats though, we see alot of guys with them. we hunt out of a 13ft whaler for sea ducks. it does well and we only really ever go out when its a foot or less

Rob ,

New to the site? My name is Dave and i am from RI. built the cackler a few years back and the boat in my opinion is a good all around boat , my partner has the Snow goose it is a cackler on steroids . Hunted both boats this morning had a great time . Maybe we will meet up some day in this small state .

John, Whiskey has a stern look on his face! Dont think I would mess with your boat while he is guarding it. Where do you sit him when you are gunning? You should get alot more performance with the 15hp since you are running a non-planing hull. Seen some locals moving pretty good with the same set up.

Hi John, Great pics I've got the exact same boat with a 15 hp Yamaha on it. The 15 hp will give you all the power you need.

Dave M. regarding Tuesday: Low tide @ 8 AM... ride out looks good. Then the weather gets nasty... maybe a good day.

Guys, i like that BBSB... how fast with a 15? and, is it a seaworthy boat? i.e. how is it running in big waves? Thanks, A.

Naw Jim,it's already 0430hrs here.I have had breakfast and fed the dogs.Probably sleep right through the celebration tonight,

Great pictures!! I'm glad you like the boat John.

We've really had a blast with them since taking over the company. I'd hunted them before, but never exclusively like we are now. You're right about the low profile making a difference too. We've had ducks pitch in that never would have given us a second look in our old boat blind. Plus we can get further from shore now too and still not stick out like a sore thumb.

Happy New Year!

Andrew you can find sneakboxes with planing hulls if you are concerned with speed. Some guys push them to 25mph. Way too fast in my opinion. They are very seaworthy. Not for the faint of heart however

Chalk up another year,eh?SInce the 16th we have had 6.2 inches of rain.WOW! That's more than two of the quaters this year.Brings us to a total of 31.4 for the year.Still 15-18 inches below average.I'll take it just the same.Pretty day.Looking for 60 then turning colder the rest of the week.Got to get out after the ducks. That is if there are ducks around.

Makes sense Charlie... my boat goes 25 (maybe 30+) and that's fast enough in the dark - plenty fast for duck hunting.

I like BBSB's a lot. I like traditional things. I want to build one one day.

Leslie-

I had a buddy take some pictures of our last hunt, but they didn't come out very good at all.

I'll get some in the next week or so and post them.

Thanks,
Kirk
