i am looking for plans for my bbsb planing hull.. this is my first time rebuilding a boat and i want to make it good

Pat, some more info on what exactly you're trying to do with your boat would help us answer your questions. What kind of boat and what kind of plans are you looking for? Maybe fill out your profile and give us a little introduction as well.

There are a bunch of great build threads on the site. Im towards the end of my rebuild and will be glassing one of these next weekends hopefully.

P.s. we all love pics.

Hey guys, Pat is my younger brother. We got a planing hull bbsb from a friend. Currently it is cut in half and all the wood is taken out because of rot. It had sat for a while before my buddy got it and opened iit up last year and began working on it. We basically have a mold at this point.

As for the builder I'm not sure who built it. It's hard to get pictures since the boat is currently in two pieces. Since I'm not home Pat will have to post pictures of it. It's a great boat just needs a LOT of work.

Thanks a bunch Bill, do you think you could post a picture of your one man boat and maybe a picture of the inside just so I can get a visual idea of how the boat should look.

I tried to take some pictures but found a wasp nest when I lifted the cover. There is not much wood in this boat.
If you measure from the front of the cockpit 29'' you have a piece of plywood as a bulkhead. The stern also gets a bulkhead but mine was removed before I got the boat.
The floor has a sheet of balsa core that was fiber glassed in place. It gets water logged. Over that there is stringers with a sheet of plywood to stand on, the plywood measures 2' x4'. The transom gets a motor board bolted on the outside of the boat.

Thanks Bill, I got some pictures from Tim and have a pretty good idea of what needs to be done. I gotta fix the stringers on my southbay also so that takes priority but I will keep everyone posted on how the job goes.

I also have a South bay, you need to add 2 more to stop that boat from oil canning. Can you post the pictures of the bulkhead they made them 2 ways. It would be interesting to see if it is a 1 piece or 2 piece bulk head

I don't think I have a picture and am currently living in North Carolina so I may not be able to get one. If by bulk head you mean is it one piece construction or two halves? It is a top and bottom halves that are classed together.

PS forgot that I had gotten a new phone so definitely no pictures of the boat right now.

Rob the bulk head is the piece of plywood that you will see when the boat is together, It adds strength to the hull to stop if from flexing. They made it 2 way. they fiberglass 1/2 the plywood on the bottom half then the other on the top of the molded hulls. When they matted the top and bottom half they used 5200 and some screws to make the 2 half plywood one.The second way they did this was to put 5200 on one half of the hull then put the 2 half's together using rivets and the stainless steel rub rail. When the hulls were together they would fiberglass 1 piece of plywood to make the bulk head.

O honestly don't know if there is bulkheading in my southbay. Its an older one from 89` if that helps, but it still has the foam in it so I don't know if there is plywood under it.

Why do you ask about the bulkhead of the boat?
