Be careful around the Great Lakes this weekend

It may be a good weekend to skip boating anywhere around the Great Lakes. I know I am staying off the water until this passes.

"The largest waves will occur over southeastern Lake Superior and may approach 40 feet. Waves on the eastern end of lakes Michigan, Huron and Erie may reach 15 feet and could approach that mark on the northeastern end of Lake Ontario."

Wow, that's some big waves!

I've got a friend that is stuck in the UP tonight because the Big Mac bridge is closed due to high winds. I'm hoping that we'll get some new birds to blow into town:)
 
Didn't go duck hunting this morning. The boat sunk right at the dock. What floats and that came out of the boat picked up on shore. I was wondering whether to go this morning or not because of the wind. Mother nature made the decision for me. Mother Nature can be a mean Mother....... I had waders on and took off the motor. I had a pump going and myself with a five gal bucket. I would get ten gals out and a wave would put in five gals but I finally won and got the boat floating.

That really sucks. I have had several rental boats over the years at the resort sink on the dock. Its a pain!

I fared much better this AM. I was careful but went out on some larger water ( not the great lakes) and was rewarded with group after group of redheads wanting into my decoys. I shot at them to keep them out but after dropping two drakes I had to stop and they finally won and got to land in the decoys throughout the morning.

Figured I would rub it in!!!

Going out again tomorrow but the clear skies have me thinking a repeat performance is not in store for me.
 
haha, love the song refernce Jeff. Last year we were on on Lake Mich and it got little rough, 6' rollers, while picking up. They were spaced far enough apart to navigate and we weren't far out either (about 600 yrds). One of my hunting buddies is an English teacher and for some odd reason knew almost the whole Edmund Fitzgerald song. He sang it our whole slow crawl in. Since the next morning was supposed to be worse so we went into town for a few adult beverages that night and for some god-offal reason karaoked the song. Man did we get some fun looks, even more then normal.
