Beautiful morning with a moderate amount of activity

that photo has me doubting my waterfowl ID abilities, two closer ducks: ringnecks??
 
Nice day! I was watching the same moon, which was a little big for my taste for the deer hunting I was doing.

Carl,
That is how I have them identified as well. I don't shoot too many Ringnecks, so I got out my book (The LeMaster Method -- Waterfowl Identification by Richard LeMaster) to check myself.

Tod,
I always figured a full moon would make them easier to see. [w00t] I was hoping the moon would stick around while I set decoys. At least it was unobstructed for the run across the bay.

Back when I was actively deer hunting, I did not have the luxury of "picking days" so I just hunted regardless of moon, weather, etc. I worked a second shift and didn't get off work until 2:00AM. Most of the deer I took, came between 10:00AM and 2:00PM. Many friends of mine couldn't believe I was consistently successful between those hours.

From 1997 to around 2001, ringnecks made up big part in bag down in Mobile. Then they stopped coming in any numbers. Neat birds, We'd often find them in narrow creeks very un-diver like
 
I back home in NW iowa this weekend. Pretty slow but still was nice, I could have stayed out all day. I hunted ona lake I trampled over and new like the back of my hand. Even spent the night after I set up decoys at midnight. Fun

Nice bag. I enjoyed quite the full moon on the way in to work this morning. Actually was high and bright enough to help keep me from hitting deer in the dark. Not too often I am so lucky.
 
Nice bag there Dave. We open Saturday. I finally have access to a blind this year....whoohoo! Its been a long dry spell. I got it brushed last week and can't wait! 57th year of hunting.

I have had good luck deer hunting during mid-day of Full Moon. If you check Solunar Tables there is usually a Major period mid-day of the Full Moons. I have heard various theories explaining this. All I know is that it works!
