Being taken care of

When we first got Chip last August 10th---that date by the way is the opening of sheep season in Alaska or at least it used to be, we had no idea what he would be like. The one thing I was hoping for was that he would be that hunting dog that I dreamed of. So far so good about that if the last week of duck season was any indication.

Now with the addition of Serrano to our home and kennel, little did we know of the patience that Chip would have. He is really proving to be a good pup for being just 9 months old. Our little girl loves Chip and hangs with him every waking moment. I took this picture early this morning.

Hard to beat a Labrador Retriever - They can adapt and endure anything it seems. Serrano is certainly a beautiful pup. If Chip get tired of her - Send her to Hazel Green, AL - I'll take her! LOL Great Picture, Al!

Cute!
Chip is probably telling her stories about ducks, mud and early morning.

Thanks, Victor. When I see them it just reminds me of "2 Peas in a Pod". Quite the pair. Here is another picture with them playing with a piece of string that comes from one of those "impenetrable" balls that we bought Chip to play with. So much for that toy!

This would be great if it happened. My major hurdle is to get Bev to let me take her along on a hunt with Chip some day. I think it is possible or at least I'm hoping so.

I agree we need a like button...on the other hand why not just say we like? A very nice photo Al

Hi, Bill. Thanks for that comment. Here is a picture from yesterday afternoon. Chip was playing with his stuffed bunny when Serrano came over to investigate. It wasn't but a few seconds and she crashed. He stayed there for a long time while she slept.

Hey Al thanks for the new pic! What great dogs, and what a great relationship they seem to be developing...I love the patience--hey, the little guy needs to sleep so I'll just sit here

Gota love that!

Thats what our Parker did when we brought home our Katie. Parker became a mother hen. LOL

Thanks, Doug. You said it perfectly when you used the term "mother hen". That is a perfect description. I just thought of Mr. Mom when observing him this morning with Serrano. He exhibits those marvelous traits of patience.

If chip gets tired of Serrano , you can ship him to tuscaloosa , al. He is spitting image of my first true "duck" dog, and from the photos shares his personality.
He became best friends with my ex girlfriends mini dachshund ...

I miss my old boy.... Never cried so hard in my life as to when he died

Chip has that look "I would like to move but I'm kinda busy now". We have a couple huskies next door about the same age difference only not nearly so connected or mellow. The Siberian pup is about to payback all the rough treatment. We learned a long time ago that there is something magic about two dogs and our two now are such "brothers" I couldn't imagine one without the other.

I can tell you that won't happen but it was good to know that there was another Labrador retriever out there with his looks, demeanor, and "duck dog" ability. That friend of his had to be a cute combo. I know what you mean about losing your four legged friend. By the way, we sold a pup to a rancher two or three years ago and Max bonded with a calf that was being bottle fed at the ranch house since the mother wanted nothing to do with her. Even after the calf grew up to be a full grown cow, she would still come back to the ranch house to be by Max whenever she was in that particular grazing pasture.
