Some of you may remember that 2 months ago I blew up my Stoger Condor shotgun. In addition to losing part of 2 fingers I also lost one of my favorite guns. Since it was a combo (20 and 12 gauge barrels) I sent it back to Benelli to have new 12 gauge tubes and a new forearm fitted for it (they were both destroyed in the explosion). I received a call from Benelli today to inform me that new barrels are not available but they offered to fit a new forearm with the 20 gauge tubes and send it back for free. I was ready to say yes and they made me one more offer. They offered to keep what is left of my combo to fix and sell and in exchange send me a brand new in the box Condor combo for $100! I blew up the gun. They were under no obligation to do anything for me. I think they treated me great! I own many shotguns (Remington, Browning, Winchester) but this is my first from Benelli USA and the company has really impressed me.

The healing is going good ...but slow. It has been 8 weeks and one day and the ring finger is not completely closed up yet. I have what seems like 90% normal use of the hand. I went fishing for the first time since the "incident" on Monday. The fish were not impressed. It seems my lures have a new "remote release" feature that I don't remember them having before.

did the gun blow up on account of owner error? if so, bennelli is generous.if not... id get the gun sent back a.s.a.p. and make a formal demand to pay for medical bills, pain and suffering etc... and a replacement gun of another make. if this is the case,it would be a big big hasstle to have a safety recall, and lawers bills, plus a dammaged industry reputation. bennellis are top quality. the same thing happend to my father when he ran a high pressure 2 3/4 12 ga load thru a light walled double barrell, it blew his hand appart. they had to cut his wedding band off to save his finger

Skippy, read my post again "I blew up the gun." Yes it was my fault so it looks like there is nothing there for the lawyers to go after. If you read the post again I also said something like ...I think they (they being Benelli) are treating me great! Now that I have written that openly I have probably ruined my chances for a mindless lawsuit. Oh well.

Ron,

Glad to hear that you are healing up, albeit slowly. As long as you can still fish, life is worth living! hehe I must have some of the same lures you are using. They seem to work that way on days when one is not getting many bites. Sure is frustrating to lose a fish prematurely when is was the only bite you had in the last 45 minutes. LOL along with you.

Now get to the beach with your camera and get us some beach bunny photos, the only thing Hitch posts up are duck photos.
