Big Family News (Sorta DR)

My wife and daughter leave for Japan on the 25th. My wife has gotten a job on Okinawa as a Nurse on Kadena AFB, she will be a civilian contractor to the USAF. So, they will be gone for at least one year.

Kinda have mixed emotions, hate to not be with them for a year. But the servicemen & women she will be serving do it all the time, and they get shot at.
They will be in one of the safest places to live on the planet and we can see each other via Skype any day we want. That puts it in perspective.
And it is only 1 year out of the rest of our lives together.

I guess the one silver lining (other than tax-free income!) is that my boy & I will get to do a lot more fishing and duck hunting this year. We plan to hit it hard while Mom & little sister are away. Maybe even get in a hog or deer hunt this year.

Anyway, prayers, good thoughts, chants and stump dances for their safe travel and return would be appreciated!

While I know I would terribly miss my wife an daughter, to be honest, I think I would enjoy having the place to myself for a couple of weeks. Then I'd be lonely, then I would go stir crazy, and so on and so on........

When they all left two summer ago for Japan for 2 months that was exactly how it was. At least this time the boy will be here with me.

Carl, I don't know how I'd make it with Dee Dee gone for a year. It's great that you and your son will have some time together, and great that she has the opportunity, but it's got to be hard.
