Big Yellow Morels.....

The boys and I hunted hard last Saturday and never even heard a turkey. But, for all that walking we did have a chance to check one of my favored dead elms! Guiding, my hunters killed two toms in this spot, one Friday and one yesterday.

After all these years I've settled on damp mushrooms dusted with flour and pan fried in BUTTER...nothing but plain old butter. I usually brown both sides until they are slightly crisp but the center is firm and not mushy.

Nice 'shrooms! Not a cluck heard for me Saturday but found 4 morel blondies. Saute'd them and served with filet Sunday. Yummy!

Great photo Jay. Those boys will treasure that pic in years to come as you treasure it now. Those mushrooms are making me hungry.

Man do I miss finding those bad boys. Great eating.

One great recipe is dehydrate them and put them in a blender to make a powder or crumb out of them and coat your bluegills, crappies, walleye with it. Now thats sumpin special!!!

Jay,

No turkey???

In that case I guess we will have to educate Mitch about the term "vegetarian",,,,,,,,,,,,,,, def.= old indian word for "lousy guide". hehe :>) :>)

What a dandy picture. That one I hope you keep to give to them when they are about 40 years old. A treasured moment in time.

Nice picture. Looks like they're having a great time!

I've found that my boys are better at finding morels than I am. I tell them that it's because their eyes are closer to the ground.

Looks like strong candidate for this year's Christmas Card !

Better make an oversize print of that one for posterity.
