Thanks to a post up on here and much help from Pete Mc Miller (with much razzing from you guys non the less about wanting a youth model.. haha) We were fortunate for a very
generous donation from Gregg Kurz, Blake is now the very proud owner of a youth 20 ga Remington 870!!!

Weeks in the making and shipping and planning and my gun dealer finally brought it to me on Christmas eve.. Talk about a close call on delivery!

He cant wait to get out there and put it to use, I am planning on taking him down to the lumber yard tomorrow to see what dares cross his path...

Thanks so so much again Pete and Gregg, your help and generosity have helped Blakes first Christmas with out dad seem a little less hard...

Funny thing is, he got to open one gift last night, and he chose the one I had packed up with the ammo. I picked up a few boxes of shells and a cleaning kit to go with it... He opened it and said mom, I use a 28 ga. dont you know anything about guns at all???

I was like OH I guess we will have to exchange them... HAHAHA

I thought for sure he would figure it out..

So I made the gun his last gift today, I kept it hidden in my room until everything was settled down... He thought he had all his gifts opened... SO, I Went back and got it and as soon as I was walking down the hall and he saw the gun box he was on me like glue!!!

The $300.00 game system he got didnt hold a candle to what was held in that brown cardboard box!!!

Needless to say he didnt put it down for at least an hour, he changed out the chokes, rubbed it down, read the hand book front to back and front again..

Happiest 11 year old in town Id bet!!

Wish we lived somewhere we could have walked right out and used it, but we will for sure get out tomorrow!

Bridget - He looks like a young Lee... Your dad would be proud. I appreciate your encouragement of Blake hunting. He will be a great hunter someday like his grandpa. More importantly, he will be a good man from the example Lee set...

God bless you and yours this Christmas Season! Pat

Now that is definitely the reaction I was hoping for. His smile is one that says "This is really mine? I can't believe it!". I'm glad I had a part in making this a Christmas Blake will remember. I hope someday he will carry this forward and pass on his hunting tradition to some deserving kid.

That's pretty cool Bridget. Thanks for the pictures. They brought a big smile to my face and I'm sure Lee's as he is watching over you today. It sure was touch and go there for a while. A huge thank you to Gregg for the donation.

Merry Christmas,

Bridget those pictures say more than a thousand words and the smile on Blakes face, says it all merrry Christmas and thanks for posting.
take care and God Bless
Eddie.

Look at that smile! I think he's one happy young sportsman.

Lucas, my grandson who is Blakes age has the same gun.

Sweet! Nothing like an 870 for Christmas!!! My favorite Christmas ever!!

He'll be giving that gun a workout in February down here!

What a fantastic story and memories that will live forever. How ironic that I had just finished watching "The Christmas Story"----where Ralphie got the Red Ryder BB Gun from his dad. It, too, was the last present and hidden away just like what you did. Now what will even be better is to see those pictures posted with his 20 gauge firsts!.

Dear Bridget,

My hunting buddy got a new gun?!? That is just too great! Way to go, Gregg, and Pete! As several have said, the smile says it all.

We'll be doing another Pheasant hunt. Lee was always with us on those, and he will be again. If you think that Blake would like to join us, I'll gladly keep you posted. He can walk beside me, and we'll put him on those big birds again.

God Bless you and your lovely family, this Christmas season!

Mark

A Christmas gift he will never forget and probably will have for many, many seasons. I still have my Reminton 1100 I got for my birthday in 1976.....in fact I used it twice this season.

Blake said he would love to go out for pheasant, please do keep me updated!

thanks!!

Bridget,
Straight out of "A Christmas Story" . IMHO the 20 ga. 870 is one of the best choices ever, gave my niece one a few years back.

That is great! The best Christmas story I heard this year. I'm sure he will enjoy it for years to come.
