Blessed...

Picked this poster up at the Henry Decoy Show yesterday. It's a subtle reminder from the 1980's of how blessed we are to be able to shoot canvasbacks today. Thank you to the USFWS and other conservation groups/people that enabled us to do so. We appreciate you and your hard work...

That is a great poster. I really like it. Like you, I'm glad that conditions have been good and Canvasback populations have recovered.

Drake Blacks and Cans are my trophy ducks. We were fortunate enough to get into them this year, after taking our limit we had two more groups plop into the decoys they spent quite a bit of time feeding, preening and just hanging out. Saw more cans this year than i ever have, but no Redheads or Scaup.

I recall when they reopened the Canvasback and Red head, seasons in 1976. I shot my first of each that year. I have posters of "Hunter's Know the Black Duck", from the early 1980's. Thanks for the post Pat. Many hunters today have not experienced Hard Drought, and it's affects.

I vividly remember seeing that poster and the "Know the black duck" pamphlet. Weird how duck fortunes have changed over the years. Pintails and bluebills, once 10 point ducks are struggling, cans and redheads have rebounded nicely, and Gadwall and BW teal numbers have jumped off the chart.
