Blessing of the fleet

We all need to recite this prayer each time we take off into the cold dark night. You never know what may lie ahead. Just this last Saturday on our way to new teal hunting spot on the Arkansas River we were moving anxiously along at a nice clip and mistakenly varied from our predetermined course by maybe a hundred yards, when my son spot-lighted a log, yelled out, I immediately throttled down, and then plowed onto a submerged mud flat out in the middle of the river. Fortunately and by Gods protection nothing or no one was damaged or hurt. It was definitely a wake up call to be more careful!

A few years ago I purchased a depthfinder with GPS. Twice it has saved our lives. Once on Lake Michigan as the fog rolled in and we could not see our hand in front of our face, and the second was on KY Lake also in the fog. The trails left from your initial trips show up and you can retrace them home. We never leave the house without praying over our outings...same with coming home.

I realize as Christians we are not to offend others with our faith by being arrogant or pushy. Christ was not like that and neither should we, but I have yet to have anyone refuse me when I ask if I can pray before each hunt. So, if you are so inclined pray for God's blessing for safety and great fellowship before loading your guns this season. Yes, it is ok if you ask Him to help you shoot straight too!
