Blind Build on Bankes Intruder Sneak

I was asked by a few members how I constructed the blind on my Bankes Intruder.
Here are some more detailed pics showing how it was built.

The last large pic shows the detail of the fittings.

The frame is made from EMT tubing bent with a conduit bender.
The side bars that the camo attatches to are held to the front factory spray dodger and the rear U support by bimini fittings.
The Bimini fittings are put together with a quick pin.

The bimini fittings are NOT securely fastened...they float on the EMT tubing.
In the front the bimini fittings simply are slid into the gap of camo that is on the spray dodger tubing.
On the rear the fittings float between the two pieces of plastic tubing on the U shaped support.
This allows for some articulation in the side panels.

The bottom of each camo side has a piece of grey conduit hemmed into the camo material to allow for the camo to be rolled up.
The tubing also allows for quick lifting of the camo out of the water in order to chase a cripple if the boat needs to be moved in a hurry.

The only addition to the rig since these pics. was a skirt sewn onto the bottom of the spray dodger to cover the front of the boat.

Feel free to ask any additional questions

Great build! That came out very good! I had the same boat. It was my first duck boat. My dad and I hunted 2 people out of that boat for 3 seasons. I used it as both a standard sneak and with 2 guys hunting it blind style with a homemade EMT blind but, not that fancy. That's a great boat, enjoy!

What material did you use for the backing of the blind? How tough is that material and would it tear apart if it got frozen and you were trying to pull it apart to roll out and deploy? Thanks, Trip.

The material is a 3D netting with die cut leafy material sewn into it. The material seems to be pretty tough. I liked the 3D look it has combined with some grass.

Thats a great looking blind. Must have taken quite a bit of time to figure out. It looks like it adds alot of height to the boat though. I don't know what type of locations you have to hunt but the Mississippi is so damn flooded right now I'd have a hard time finding enough cover to make it legal to hunt out of. You seem to be pretty good with that pipe bender of yours, you ever think of making a more low profile blind system?
I really like the cover you have to go over your head too. I've wanted to design something like that and i thought i'd camoflage it to looklike a muskrat hut, might have to "borrow" some of your design to make it happen.

It actually is alot less in height than a standard flip down boat blind. It is just high enough to cover my head when I am sitting in the boat. The cover on the front of the boat is the factory spray dodger.

The intent here was to make a standard boat blind on a sneak boat. My hunting locations require this type of setup (along river banks).

Thanks

What is the grass you used? Is it a commercial product or did you make it yourself? ... Great looking blind. Well done.

The grass is just raffia. The raffia is zip tied to a leafy cut blind material that has a netting backer.
