Boat build summer 2010. (Added a third round of pics)

She is moving along this was last night just before the final sanding for the fiberglass on the deck.

Tonight we did not have power so I had to put a second coat of epoxy on in the dark with an old colman lantern.

I am looking forward to getting her outside in the sun this weekend.

Brandon,

I can't believe your wife lets you get away with all this. You married well. :>) :>) Nice looking project, got a trailer set up yet?

Dave would it help to tell you that she was out in the garage mixing epoxy for me last night in the dark and the kids were hanging out too?

Disclaimer is that I had the only lantern in the house out there though!

Trailer is here just need to swap the boats around. The BBIII is getting on new one I bought and the one it was on will have the new boat.

Going out to epoxy again soon.

Brandon, maybe I missed them, but did you post any specs on the boat? Trying to get some perspective on it's proportions. What are the pods olong the sides? Do they open? Are you building from you own plan or something you saw elsewhere? Looks like a seriouos work boat for sure.

That is just using your noggin. I still think you owe her a nice dinner and some fresh flowers.

Dave,
I don't know if I posted specs or not. She is 16' 60" beam. Slight amount of rocker to her and going on memory here 16" of freeboard. The compartments along the sides do open they are for storage of oars, and other items and make a nice shelf while hunting to keep gear off the floor.

Charlie, I take it as a complement that you think she belongs on the coats most of the boats I based it on are histiric designs from the coast. Sharing plans would be difficult since she is built out of my head. I honestly never put it to paper just spent lots of time looking at offsets and plans of boats and knew what I wanted out of the finished design.

I will keep posting pics as I go along. Lots of prep work today planning planking for the flooring, combing, and sheer clamps.

Because I never finished updating this thread on the build process I thought I would add a few now that season is over and the boat has seen some work.

Here she in on my trip to Canada in September, I rushed so much that the paint was still soft and wore off with the ratchet straps and she got repainted after the trip. First blood on her deck was some of these.

Here she is after the repaint and part way into my season. I really should have taken more pics this year but my camera was dead for part of it and I finally got a new one towards the end of the season.

This first season, I just hunted her like you see open water gray and no blind. Next year I will be putting on a blind and am still deciding what if any natural material to use with it.

Glad I finally got around to finishing the post. The build was fun and I am looking forward to another this summer.
