Boat Paint

Hey Guys

I'm so close to paint time! My hull is almost ready for glass.

Lou Tisch used to be active here and I've heard nothing but good reports on his paint. His site looks out of date and I'm not sure if he's still in business. His FME is probably my first choice, based on what I've heard from other builders.

What recommendations do y'all have for paint on my glass-over-wood sneak build?

#1 on the FME from Lou. My boat reglass/refinish was completed in 2010, has been hunted hard ever since, and has needed no more than occasional touch ups on spots with heavy wear.

I may sand and repaint next year, but it doesn't really need it except in a few spots.

Lou was also super helpful in selecting paint and providing tips on how to apply it.

I know others have had good success with Parker and Pettit paints, but can't speak from experience.

He is still in business. I just bought paint from him. Send him an email and he will answer whatever questions you have.

Hi Ben,
Yes, we're still alive and well.
The website is outdated as we were hacked and then my computer blew up. Just got a new terrabyte hard drive and have admin privileges
to the server and should be updating sooooon.

I check this site several times a day and jump in when I can help. There's so much good advice and help here that most questions are answered several times. Great wealth of knowledge.

Holler with questions and let me know how we can be of service.
I can walk you through anything you need.
Lou

But what I have used over the yrs Is PARKER DUCK BOAT DRAB It comes in TWO Colors One On The Olive Drab Green Side & The other has a little bit more Dead Grass look I have been very satisfied with the Product over many years.

Just put in my order with Lou. Quick response times and a really nice, helpful person.

Laying glass this week and painting as soon as it's cured.

Can't wait to finish my first build!

Just got my paint from Lou tonite. UPS guy rang the doorbell at 8:45pm! Ha!

Fantastic service from Lou.
