boat work

Finally got the boat almost ready. Got the new motor painted and installed a 5/4" ipee block to raise it a little closer to where it should be. I'm sure I could squeeze a little more speed out of it by fine tuning the height but it will work fine for this year. It goes fast enough, fully loaded, that I feel like I should slow down in tighter turns. Also added some mohag grass rails. Just need to grass them now. Lastly I took an old Avery layout mat and turned it in to a cockpit cover. It's the black thing rolled up at the back of the cockpit. I zip tied some netting to it to attach grass to.

I got this boat last year but only hunted out of it 2 or 3 times before I lost all confidence in the motor. I still have a lot to figure out as far as where to put everything and the easiest way to set and retrieve decoys. I hunted our coastal opener in it yesterday. I really enjoy hunting out of it. Just need to get it grassed up so the black ducks stop flaring when they see it.

This a pic of the boat drying out after yesterdays hunt. No ducks but no problems so I'll consider that a success for now. Luke

Boat looks good Luke. Thinking about hitting the Great bay tomorrow, vets day off at work. Were their a lot of people hunting?

Greg

Greg, i was behind Stone harbor Saturday morning and didn't have anyone right on top of me but there were another 4-6 groups hunting with in a mile of me. Not bad for openen day. Good luck if you head out.
