Brant long line or seperate

I run one line with 15 decoys on it and throw another 6 singles around it. Around here there are so many Brant it does not seem to make a diffeance what kind of decoys or how you set them . They just come in to whatever you throw out.

Just some additional info. I try to hunt the outgoing tide near a mud flat or sandbar where I know they will be coming to feed. I had about 6 days out of over 30 days I hunted that I did not get my limit of Brant.
Where were you hunting?

I've always long lined a dz. floaters I have and filled in with singles.

I agree that location is more important then the way you set your spread.

The only day we shot Brant this year, I was sea duck hunting with a rig of Herters 72 scoters. It was all about location.

John,
I am hunting in Mass but yes location is a big factor. I was just wondering how you
guys set up. I have a dozen herters decoys and was wonder if I should set them up
for longlines or individuals. I might run six on a line and 6 seperate to mix things up.

Reedy creek guides in tuckerton use single lines as long line catch a lot of grass. Bill

I have mine two to each anchor, I ran out of anchors, lol. The pairs work fine.
I prefer singles though, but whatever works easiest for you and your system.
The most important thing is to be where they want to be, or will be. If your on the X, you'll get them with 3 decoys.

I run 12 on a long line and have two goose butt feeders that I use on singles. It looks better with more singles but LOCATION is the key. I also like to mix in some buffies and blacks. Buffies in the brant and blacks to the side. I always like the option of a mixed bag hunt. Twice this year I had Bluebills come right into this rig of brant and buffies.

With brant there is nothing more important that location, location, location...

Best wishes,
Gene

Where we hunt for Brant on the south shore of LI all you need is a couple of goose decoys and the right spot, which is just about anywhere. They have to be the easiest bird I have ever seen to decoy to the gun. Well maybe a tie with buffleheads :)
