I'm jumping feet first into my first boat building project. I have plans for a layout. Just wondering what type of plywood to use... figured I'd get the best opinion here! thanks!

I've been thinking about building a layout fo next year , Too much work on the table for this comming season, 2 pits and a floater. But have you ever considered Nidacore insted of plywood, lighter, stronger and never worry about rot. I think thats whats in the back of my mind to use

Nidacore, Ihope I'm spelling it right is a honeycomb fibreglass sheetvery light and very strong. Ther are other products that our local fibreglass guy uses that might be even better . A friend of mine Just replaced the cocpit deck of a 42' Bruno with nidacore, he took out 3/4 ply with glass over his transome shows 2" more of freeboard with the weight change. I'll ask Billy about costs and availability. Everybodt out here thats doing any kind of major work on their boats is going high tech. Just found out there website its spelled NIDA CORE http://www.nida-core.com/english/index.htm Check it out.

Thanks. I looked at the site from the first post. Looks really interesting. Think it would be "TOO" lihjt weight for a layout boat?
