Today I had to close up the camp. My friend Justin and I went up to get the water drained and the all the drains full of RV waterline antifreeze. We managed to get out to the point for about an hour. 3 mallards came in and 2 left. One Drake stayed, but it was not dead. It hit the water and started swimming. Bully just turned 8, but a young 8. He was standing on the Rock waiting to be sent...I kinda forgot to send him...Then I sent him, and off he went. A 20 mph NW wind had the waves crashing on the rocks. Bully took a nice line and headed after the drake. The bird started diving and Bully circled and circled. On the fourth stab, putting his head completely under water the old boy came up with bird in mouth and rode the waves back to me. I was very proud of his work and his manners.

Looks to be a gentle soul. I'd bet you are very proud of him. Give Bully an extra biscuit for me.

Really Al? A Green chili burrito? That and a dog just sound wrong for each other - the imagery is funny though.

Great shot of your dog and your hunting area and don't you just have to marvel at these dogs. But Al, I have to agree with Pete---give a dog that Green Chili breakfast burrito?? :) "Come on Man !"

Thanks, Steve. Pete and Jim were giving me a tough time. At first I thought that it was because I have lived in NM for 17 years but then remembered how much Chili loved to eat Breakfast burritos with green chili. Sometimes I would stop at a restaurant on my way to hunt and get one. She never refused one bite that I offered her. I have to admit that when we got to the Rio Grande, Chili would often run to the water's edge and start lapping water!

Is it just me, or does Bully still seem a bit disgrumpled about being ignored to start with? Maybe it's just cause there's no bush on that rock and all that activity requires a bladder emptying--trust me, us old guys know about that. Good story, good photo, good ole dog. Give him an extra hug.
