Cabela's...REALLLYYY??

I know there was a thread on a glaring mistake in the Cabela's Catalog recently but I hadn't really paid attention until Jason Russell and I were looking at the on line catalog a noticed this...

Really?...Cabela's wishes to be the company that I look to for Waterfowling Equipment and they don't even know enough to catch the glaring error in their title page photo?...I understand a non-hunting photographer and pretty boy model in camo face paint not knowing but you'd think they'd have someone proofing that would have caught the mistake....

Thankfully my catalog days are over and hopefully I'll be past caring by the time I need to order something that results in the flood of catalogs that results from even the smallest of orders....

Steve

You are so right, his beanie should be darker black, I would think they could photoshop that.

Unless that call operates by inhaling I suspect you noticed its backwards. He is blowing into the bell.

Unless I'm mistaken, that's a Sean Mann Eastern Shoreman, and he's blowing it correctly (at least into the right end)... I've been wrong before though

That picture made me think this. I can just see the guy aka model, asking the photographer if he is done with the shoot so he can go get the grease off his face and shave.
Al

That rough and tumble look isn't quite what it used to be like!

Figured it was probably a flute call of some sort. They always look screwy. It still looks like he's playing a trumpet... and who puts on 5 or 6 dabs of face paint? Its all or nothing.

Ding, ding, ding.... :).

Who else is waiting with baited breath for Steve to put up the horribly embarassing pic from Cabelas?!?!

correct it's a Birdseye maple shoremann and yes he's operating it semi correctly. Should be trying to drink like coke bottle. He could sound like a dying cow getting raped by a horse I wouldn't know.

Vince- i wonder how long it will take for the crowds to calm down so that you can actually get in there

Hmm, usually, the bell is where the sound comes out--If you don't belee dat, try blowin' into the bell end of a trombone, or better yet, an oboe or bassoon.

Rick - I was a big fan of Cabela's back in the day, not so much anymore. Been to many of their stores, but it will be awhile before I set foot in the new NY store. Got a couple gift cards to burn.
Can't wait to see the Sorry sign, or one box per customer, for .22's. Of course if you buy a firearm (what are ya Nutz), the escort out the door by a employee after purchase is a nice touch... Oh I'm sorry, that was at the new Dicks Sporting Goods (still no .22 ammo). I still enjoy doing business with local shops, even though more and more are closing, and that is a damn shame.

I agree Vince, about the local shop when you can, and the choices of shops and their stock selection is shrinking

since I lean towards hammer doubles and bamboo rods, no one is much help to my afflictions

but, unfortunately there are things that are hard to find any place but the big boxes

Rick - it's been awhile since I shot a hammer double, but recently I got to use my buddies custom bamboo fly rod. My goodness, never cast a double taper line so well!

I'm guessing at our age we have just about all we require, except maybe more time to use it. Your correct about the big box stores, but our foundation was built in the old shops and the friendships we built there.

There are places that do cater to your "afflictions". The sticker shock in those shops may have you reaching for the little white Nitro pills...
